fripSide(フリップサイド)는 2002년 결성된 일본의 2인조 음악 유닛이다. 소속사는 쓰리나인 엔터테인먼트이며, 소속 음반사는 NBC 유니버셜 엔터테인먼트 저팬이다.
개요
2002년 야기누마 사토시가 인터넷에서 보컬을 모집하였고, 당시 고등학생이었던 nao가 채용되어 결성되었다. 2003년 「first odyssey of fripSide」라는 앨범으로 동인 데뷔하였고, 서서히 활로를 넓혀 2008년 「flower of bravery」로 메이저 데뷔하였으나, 2009년 보컬 nao가 은퇴하였다.
같은 년도에 새 보컬로 난죠 요시노를 영입하고, 「only my railgun」으로 다시금 메이저 데뷔를 이루었다.
보컬이 nao였던 시기를 제1기, 난죠 요시노인 시기를 제2기라고 한다.
명칭의 유래
fripSide라는 유닛명은 레코드판의 B면을 의미하는 flip side에서 유래했다. 야기누마 사토시가 “모든 곡을 A면의 마음가짐으로 만들겠다”는 의지를 담아 작명했다고 한다. 근데 왜 이름을 B면이라고 지은거야
S가 대문자인 것은 야기누마 사토시의 이니셜 Satoshi Yaginuma에서 따온 것이다.
