집합론에서 흔히 [math]\displaystyle{ (a, b) = \{\{a\}, \{a, b\}\} }[/math]으로 정의한다.
보통 [math]\displaystyle{ \{a, b\} }[/math]를 [math]\displaystyle{ a \ne b }[/math]일 때만 무순서쌍이라고 하고, [math]\displaystyle{ a=b \rightarrow \{a,b\} = \{a\} }[/math]는 단지 한원소집합에 불과하다. 하지만 multiset을 도입하여 [math]\displaystyle{ \{a,a\} }[/math]를 무순서쌍으로 보기도 한다.
- [math]\displaystyle{ (a, b) = (c, d) \Longleftrightarrow a=c \wedge b=d. }[/math]
- [math]\displaystyle{ (a, b) = \{\{a\}, \{a, b\}\} }[/math].
이 정의에서는 순서쌍 [math]\displaystyle{ p }[/math]의 첫 번째 좌표를 [math]\displaystyle{ \forall S \in p[a\in S] }[/math]인 [math]\displaystyle{ a }[/math]로 정의할 수 있다. 두 번째 좌표는 순서쌍에 속하는 두 집합에 공통으로 들어가는 대상이 아니므로 [math]\displaystyle{ \exists S \in p[b \in S] \wedge \forall S_1, S_2 \in p[S_1 \ne S_2 \rightarrow \neg(b\in S_1 \cap S_2)] }[/math]인 [math]\displaystyle{ b }[/math]로 정의할 수 있다.[1]
이 정의를 이용하면 [math]\displaystyle{ (a, b) = (c, d) \Longleftrightarrow a=c \wedge b=d.
증명충분조건: [math]\displaystyle{ a = c \wedge b = d\rightarrow (a,b)=\{\{a\}, \{a, b\}\} = \{\{c\}, \{c, d\}\}=(c,d) }[/math]필요조건: 두 가지 경우를 생각하자: [math]\displaystyle{ a = b, \; a ≠ b. }[/math]
- [math]\displaystyle{ a =b\leftrightarrow (a, b) = \{\{a\}, \{a, b\}\}=\{\{a\}\}=\{\{c\},\{c,d\}\}\rightarrow \{c\}=\{c,d\}=\{a\}\rightarrow c=a=d=b. }[/math]
- [math]\displaystyle{ a\ne b \leftrightarrow a\ne b \wedge (a=c \vee a \ne c). \quad a\ne b \wedge a \ne c\rightarrow\{a\}\ne \{c\}\wedge \{a\}\ne \{c,d\}\rightarrow (a,b)\ne (c,d) \; }[/math]이므로 [math]\displaystyle{ a=c\rightarrow b =d }[/math]이다.

Tuple
- [math]\displaystyle{ (a_1, a_2, \cdots, a_n) := ((a_1, a_2, \cdots , a_{n-1}),a_n). }[/math]
이와 일대일 대응인 정의로는 [math]\displaystyle{ (a_1, \cdots, a_n)=f:i \mapsto a_i = \{(i, a_i):i\in\{1, \cdots, n\}\} }[/math]가 있다.
정렬된 집합족 [math]\displaystyle{ \mathcal A =\{A_i\}_{i\in I} }[/math]와 그 파라미터 [math]\displaystyle{ I=\{i_j:j=1,\cdots , n\} }[/math]에 대하여 [math]\displaystyle{ \prod\mathcal A=\prod _{i\in I}A_i = A_{i_1} \times \cdots \times A_{i_n}:=\{(a_i)_{i\in I}:a_i \in A_i\}=\{(a_{i_1},\cdots, a_{i_n}):a_{i_j}\in A_{i_j}\} }[/math]을 [math]\displaystyle{ \mathcal A }[/math]의 카테시언 곱(Cartesian product)이라 한다.
Let [math]\displaystyle{ \mathscr P }[/math], [math]\displaystyle{ \mathscr L }[/math]([math]\displaystyle{ \mathscr P \cap \mathscr L = \emptyset }[/math]) and [math]\displaystyle{ \mathscr I\subseteq \mathscr P \times \mathscr L }[/math] be sets, we call
- [math]\displaystyle{ \sigma = (\mathscr P, \mathscr L, \mathscr I) }[/math]
a incidence structure, or a geometric structure. If [math]\displaystyle{ \mathscr P }[/math] and [math]\displaystyle{ \mathscr L }[/math] are finite sets, we call [math]\displaystyle{ \sigma }[/math] a finite incidence structure.
For given [math]\displaystyle{ p, q\in\mathscr P }[/math], if [math]\displaystyle{ \exists L \in \mathscr L \text{ s.t. } (p,L),(q,L)\in \mathscr I }[/math], we say [math]\displaystyle{ p }[/math] and [math]\displaystyle{ q }[/math] are jointed, and we say [math]\displaystyle{ L }[/math] is decided by [math]\displaystyle{ p }[/math] and [math]\displaystyle{ q }[/math] if there is only one line [math]\displaystyle{ L }[/math](we call it the join [math]\displaystyle{ pq:=L }[/math].) Similarly, given [math]\displaystyle{ L, M\in \mathscr L }[/math], if [math]\displaystyle{ \exists p \in \mathscr P \text{ s.t. } (p,L),(p,M)\in \mathscr I }[/math], we say [math]\displaystyle{ L }[/math] and [math]\displaystyle{ M }[/math] meet, and we say [math]\displaystyle{ p }[/math] is decided by [math]\displaystyle{ L }[/math] and [math]\displaystyle{ M }[/math] if there is only one point [math]\displaystyle{ p }[/math](we call it the intersection [math]\displaystyle{ p:=L\cap M }[/math].) And also denote [math]\displaystyle{ [p(\in\mathscr P)\in L (\in \mathscr L)] := [(p, L) \in \mathscr I] }[/math] and omit [math]\displaystyle{ \mathscr I }[/math].
평면
We shall call incidence structures [math]\displaystyle{ \pi=(\mathscr P , \mathscr I) }[/math] satisfying following axioms planes:
- [math]\displaystyle{ \forall p, q \in\mathscr P \exists ! L \in \mathscr L \text{ s.t. }p, q\in L, }[/math]
- [math]\displaystyle{ \forall L\in\mathscr L \exists p, q\in\mathscr P (p \ne q) \text{ s.t. } p, q \in L. }[/math]
We call incidence structures satisfying following axioms affine planes:
- [math]\displaystyle{ \exists L \in \mathscr L, }[/math]
- [math]\displaystyle{ \forall L \in \mathscr L \exists p, q\in \mathscr P (p \ne q) \text{ s.t. }p,q\in L, }[/math]
- [math]\displaystyle{ \forall L \in \mathscr L \exists r\in\mathscr P \text{ s.t. }r \notin L, }[/math]
- [math]\displaystyle{ \forall p,q \in \mathscr P (p\ne q)\exists ! L=pq\in \mathscr L, }[/math]
- [math]\displaystyle{ \forall L \in \mathscr L \forall p (\notin L) \in \mathscr P \exists ! M \in \mathscr L \text{ s.t. } p \in M \wedge L \| M. }[/math] ([math]\displaystyle{ L \| M }[/math] means [math]\displaystyle{ \not \exists L \cap M }[/math].)
And every affine plane is a plane.
We call incidence structures [math]\displaystyle{ \alpha_\mathbb R }[/math] satisfying following axioms real affine planes:

- [math]\displaystyle{ (x_0 , y_0) \in \{ (x,y)|ax+by+c = 0\} \Longleftrightarrow ax_0 + by_0 + c = 0. }[/math]
And every real affine plane is an affine plane.
