- [math]\displaystyle{ f:\mathbb{Z}_2\to\mathbb{Z}_4,\quad f([n]_2)=[n]_4\text{ for each }n\in \mathbb{Z} }[/math]
그러면 [math]\displaystyle{ ([1]_2,[1]_4)\in f }[/math]이고 [math]\displaystyle{ ([3]_2,[3]_4)\in f }[/math]이다.
예를 들어, 집합 [math]\displaystyle{ A,B,C }[/math]에 대해 일반적으로
- [math]\displaystyle{ (A\times B)\times C\ne A\times (B\times C) }[/math]
따라서 [math]\displaystyle{ A\times B \times C }[/math]라는 표현을 사용하고 싶다면
- [math]\displaystyle{ A\times B \times C=(A\times B)\times C }[/math]
이 경우 이를 해결하는 또 다른 방법이 있는데, [math]\displaystyle{ (A\times B)\times C }[/math]와 [math]\displaystyle{ A\times (B\times C) }[/math]와 [math]\displaystyle{ A\times B\times C }[/math]는 isomorphic하므로, 이 경우 well-defined up to isomorphism이라고 말할 수 있다.
