수학에서 정의되는 개념

정의

벡터공간 [math]\displaystyle{ V }[/math]의 원소들 [math]\displaystyle{ \mathbf{x} _1,\mathbf{x} _2,\cdots,\mathbf{x} _n }[/math]이 선형독립이고 [math]\displaystyle{ V }[/math]를 생성할 때, [math]\displaystyle{ \mathbf{x} _1,\mathbf{x} _2,\cdots,\mathbf{x} _n }[/math]를 [math]\displaystyle{ V }[/math]의 기저(basis)라고 한다. 모든 벡터 공간은 기저를 가지고, 기저의 개수는 일정하다.

차원

[math]\displaystyle{ V }[/math]의 기저의 개수를 차원(demension)이라 하고, [math]\displaystyle{ \dim V }[/math]로 나타낸다.
