정의
V를 체 F 위에서 정의된 벡터공간이라고 하자. 함수 [math]\displaystyle{ \|\cdot \|: V\to\mathbb{R} }[/math]가 임의의 [math]\displaystyle{ \mathbf{x},\mathbf{y}\in V }[/math]와 임의의 [math]\displaystyle{ c\in F }[/math]에 대해
- (1) [math]\displaystyle{ \|\mathbf{x}\|\ge 0 }[/math]
- (1a) [math]\displaystyle{ \|\mathbf{x}\|=0 \Leftrightarrow \mathbf{x}=\mathbf{0} }[/math]
- (2) [math]\displaystyle{ \| c\mathbf{x}\|=|c|\|\mathbf{x}\| }[/math]
- (3) [math]\displaystyle{ \|\mathbf{x}+\mathbf{y}\|\le \|\mathbf{x}\|+\|\mathbf{y}\| }[/math]
를 만족하면 노름(norm)이라고 한다.
