아가사 크리스티의 명작 추리소설. 추리소설 중 엄청난 인기를 끌고 있는 소설로 세계 3대 추리소설 중 하나로 불릴 정도로 인기가 엄청나다. 아가사 크리스티의 다른 추리소설과는 다르게 애르퀼 푸아로와 같은 탐정이 이 소설에서 나오진 않는다. 마지막에 짤막하게 경찰이 등장 할 뿐.

병정 섬에 갖힌 사람들이 하나 하나 죽어가면서 드러나는 인간의 모습들과 공포감이 그 백미라고 볼 수 있으며 마지막 반전과도 같은 글에 다시 한 번 놀랄 수밖에 없는 작품이다.

영국판의 원제는 《열 개의 인디언 인형(Ten little Indians)》였지만 우리에게 잘 알려져 있는 제목은 역시 미국판의 《그리고 아무도 없었다(And then there were none)》이다.
