릭 애스틀리의 첫 싱글이자 첫 정규앨범 《Whenever You Need Somebody》 수록곡. 노래는 히트 프로듀서였던 스톡 에이트켄 워터맨이 만들었고, 뮤직비디오는 사이먼 웨스트가 감독하였다. 80년대를 풍미했던 명곡이었으나 요즘 세대들에게는 릭롤링이라는 인터넷 밈으로 통할 뿐이다.

영국에서 약 5주 동안 1위에 차지하였고, 독일과 미국, 남아프리카 공화국, 벨기에를 비롯한 25개국에서도 1위를 차지하여 세계적으로도 성공하였다. 특히 빌보드 메인 차트인 Hot 100 싱글 차트에선 2주 동안 1위를 달성했을 정도.[1]
달달한 가사에 중독성 있는 멜로디가 특징이지만 포인트는 요즘 세대의 시점으로 보면 쌍팔년도스러운 뮤직비디오라는 것이다. 기대감을 와장창 날려버리는 첫 부분의 사운드는 낚시용으로 적절했고 뒤이어 뮤직비디오에서 선보이는 애스틀리의 80년도식 패션센스와 얄미워보이는 안무는 낚인 이들의 어이를 가출하기에 적절하였다. 그래서 이 낚시행위를 애스틀리의 이름과 트롤링을 합친 의미로 릭롤링이라고 불려졌다.
그래도 곡 자체는 명곡이라 여러번 낚이다보면 이 곡을 즐기게 될 것이다.
