The Red Flag

개요

좌익 계열 노래 중의 하나로써, 영어 가사는 짐 코넬이 작사하였으며, 20세기 초반 노동운동 및 공산주의 확산에 따라 널리 퍼진 노래이다.

영문 가사

The People's Flag is deepest red,

사람들의 깃발이 제일 빨개,

It shrouded oft our martyred dead,

이가 사그라진 시체를 염하여,

And ere their limbs grew stiff and cold,

Their hearts' blood dyed its every fold.

후렴:

So raise the scarlet standard high.

Beneath its shade we'll live and die,

Though cowards flinch and traitors sneer,

We'll keep the red flag flying here.

Look round, the Frenchman loves its blaze,

The sturdy German chants its praise,

In Moscow's vaults its hymns were sung

이적표현물

북한에서 이 노래를 군가로 불렀다. 정확히는 영어 가사의 일본어 번역을 다시 번역한 가사를 쓴 것이다. 따라서 함부로 가사를 게시했다가는 코렁탕을 먹을 수 있다. 2014년에 갤럭시 익스프레스에 의해 편곡된 버전도 있다. 제주 4.3 관련 앨범에 수록된 곡이었으며 제주대학교 아라뮤즈홀에서 공연한 적도 있고, 벅스와 같은 음악사이트에서도 서비스 되었으나(!) 현재는 권리사 요청으로 듣거나 다운로드 받을 수 없다. 네이버 뮤직에도 등재는 되어 있으며 무려 가사도 등록되어 있다.[1] 정식 발매해서 네이버에 등록된 가사이므로 코렁탕은 먹을 염려 없는 편.

왜 불렀다고 되어 있냐면, 지금은 북한에서도 이 곡은 금지곡이라서... 체제에 불만을 갖는 젊은이들의 패기가 두려워서라나.

굳이 보고 싶은 분들을 위해서라면... 붕탁 버전이 있기는 하다. 가사와 영상의 싱크로율이 대단히 높다.
